Temporary Visitor Centre at Causeway Hotel
The new temporary visitor centre within the Causeway Hotel is due to open on 25th November 2010 and visitor facilities will include Craft & Souvenir shops, networked Tourist Information Centre with Bureau de Change and accommodation booking service. Additional external toilets and catering facilities will also be provided and the hotel will continue to operate as normal throughout the construction period which is expected to last approximately 18 months. Due to limitations in space, we shall no longer be able to offer interpretation in the form of an audio-visual presentation but guided walking tours will be available (£4 per adult and advance booking essential) and a 'meet & greet' service will be provided for coach tour arrivals.
Coach Parking
From November 2010 to Summer 2012, coach parking on site will be limited to a 'drop off' and 'pick up' arrangement in front of the Causeway Hotel. FREE coach parking will be available at Dundarave car park in the nearby village of Bushmills from where the new Giant's Causeway 'Park & Ride' shuttle bus service will also operate. Traffic delays are to be expected at peak times and we strongly recommend that coach companies allocate extra time for their visit to allow for this.
Car Parking
During decant (end of October to the end of November), it will be possible to park at the Causeway Hotel (89 spaces) and at Innisfree farm (65 spaces) and the Park & Ride in Bushmills will provide an additional 96 car park spaces. A series of variable message signs will be installed in the wider Causeway area indicating the availability of car parking spaces at each location and will direct traffic accordingly. A parking fee of £6 will continue to apply to those parking on site at the hotel and Innisfree farm - with free parking for National Trust members.
